I left my home town of Thurso to move to Edinburgh to study Computer Science at Heriot-Watt University.

Twenty years ago I had returned from a year in Broomfield, Colorado, graduated, started my first job in software engineering, and moved in with my now-wife, Ro.

Fifteen years ago Ro and I were married and went around the world on our honeymoon. I left my job to be one half of a start-up.

Ten years ago, with a toddler in tow and another on the way we moved from Leith to our current home.

Five years ago I’d just joined another start-up before covid forced us all to work from home.
