Inspired by a few other folks, here’s a review of 2009, and a look at what my goals are for 2010.
2009
In January I asked Ro to be my wife. She agreed! We can’t wait for the wedding in April, the planning of which couldn’t have gone smoother, although probably because I’ve kept out of it.
March was the month my 20-something fiancée turned into a 30-something fiancée.
April was the month I failed at Project 365. I wasn’t enjoying taking daily photos, and it had started to become a chore. I may at some point in the future attempt another Project 365, but not in 2010.
In May Ro started her PhD. I hit the pivotal age of 27 (3^3).
Ro and I were in Amsterdam for a long weekend at the start of June, which was followed by EuroPython at the end of the month. EuroPython was a great event with some fantastic talks, and I took what I’d learned back to Line where I presented “WTF is Python” to the company. Definitely something I’m looking forward to in 2010.
August is always the Edinburgh Festival: Ro and I saw some great acts, the highlights being Dylan Moran, Miles Jupp, and what is becoming a tradition, The Late Show.
In September I grew a ‘tache, and raised £172.50 for mens’ cancers, and I made my first visit to Dundee to break my iPhone beyond all repair.
The highlight of November was sadly the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which I’ve barely put down since.
And of course December: Ro and I spent a week in Kent visiting her folks for Christmas: we both had a fantastic time, ate some amazing food, and giving & receiving some awesome presents.
2010
By the end of 2010 I will have achieved the following goals:
- Get Married;
- Attend EuroPython;
- Have a new kitchen & bathroom;
- Rebuild this website;
- Give blood 4 times (once a quarter);
- Read 6 books;
- Post 52 blog posts (one a week, this is #1);
- Brew 3 batches of homebrew;
- Launch 1 side project;
- Learn Haskell & Scala (to a useable level);
- Attend a football match;
- Go camping;
- Go scuba diving.
